Wow! We've received many applications from all three conflicts that we serve (WWII, Korea, and Vietnam) and we couldn't be any happier that these veterans want to take this trip as a small token of the American people's appreciation! We've also received a few applications for those wishing to go along, paying their own way, to help our American heroes have a safe yet rewarding trip to visit the memorials dedicated in honor of the veteran's service and sacrifice. As a reminder, we determine the veterans that are traveling the upcoming flights by the conflict in which they served in order of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam as well as give a high priority to veterans that are terminally-ill. Applications must be postmarked by July 1, 2017 to be considered for Mission 1 (August Honor Flight). Again, priority is given to those listed above.
We are excited to announce that our director will be traveling with the Talons Out Honor Flight based out of Southern Michigan! This is the FINAL step required for our hub to start taking veterans from Northwest Iowa and Southeast South Dakota to Washington, D.C. If you would like to follow their trip, feel free to add us on Snapchat by entering our username (@midwesthonorflt) or adding the photo in this post to your Snapchat app. We will also use this during our events as well as every Honor Flight (known as "Missions") that we continue to offer for years to come. If you have not done so already, we invite you to also connect with us on Facebook and Instagram.
What can you do to help? We need to raise at least $750 for every veteran that signs up to go. This covers EVERYTHING for the duration of the trip for a veteran - flights, hotel, food, gear, bus transportation. Visit our Donation Page for additional information.
