It's hard to believe that in less than three weeks, over 85 veterans from Northwest Iowa, Southeast South Dakota, and Southwest Minnesota will be traveling through our nation's Capitol - Washington, D.C. Participating Midwest Honor Flight Veterans will leave Sioux Falls Regional Airport on Tuesday, August 22 early in the morning at 0600 and fly to Reagan National Airport (DCA) to visit Arlington and Washington D.C. Our Tour will consist of a visit to The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to witness the Changing of the Guard located in Arlington National Cemetery, Iwo Jima (Marine) and the Air Force Memorials. Following a boxed lunch, we will see downtown DC and complete the trip with stops at the World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, and the FDR Memorials.
What comes next? Well, that's up to the general public! We will have a few things for the veterans to do on the flight home but we need YOUR HELP to make their Welcome Home something special when we arrive back from DC into Sioux Falls Regional Airport. Do you have time on Tuesday, August 22nd to get the family together, make a poster or two, and join us in the lobby of the airport to welcome these American Heroes home from their Final Tour with Honor? We'd love to have the lobby filled to capacity to show these veterans from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam just how much we appreciate their service to OUR United States of America! Details are below for the Welcome Home Ceremony if you or your family and friends are interested.
