DONATION POLICY
1. General Donation Policy
Midwest Honor Flight relies on the generosity of donors to fulfill our mission of honoring Veterans with a trip of gratitude to Washington, D.C. Because donations are immediately allocated toward flight preparation, Veteran support, and mission-critical expenses:
All donations are final. Midwest Honor Flight does not offer refunds on any donations.
2. Guardian & Crew Donation and Cancellation Policy
2.1 Donation Requirement
All Guardians and Crew members are required to make a donation to participate in a flight. This donation supports the cost of their seat and ensures that every Veteran flies at no cost.
2.2 Cancellations Made More Than 7 Days Before Flight
If a Guardian or Crew member cancels more than 7 days prior to the scheduled flight:
No refund will be issued for the donation.
However, if the individual requests the return of their donation, Midwest Honor Flight will instead offer:
A guaranteed Guardian/Crew spot during the following flight season, subject to availability within that season’s scheduling.
Any increase in the required donation amount for the future season will be the responsibility of the Guardian/Crew member.
If the Guardian/Crew member had previously completed required training, refresher training or full retraining—depending on organizational requirements—must be completed again before participating in the later flight.
2.3 Cancellations Within 7 Days of Flight
If a Guardian or Crew member cancels within 7 days of the scheduled flight:
No refund will be issued.
No future-season Guardian or Crew spot will be offered.
This policy is necessary because:
Late cancellations require the seat to be filled by a standby Guardian or Crew member.
Operational and safety considerations—especially for our Veterans—require stable, trained flight teams in the final week before departure.
Donations at this stage have already been expended toward mission readiness and cannot be reassigned.
Midwest Honor Flight reserves the right to make exceptions in rare, mission-critical situations, such as medical emergencies or operational disruptions. Any such exception is solely at the discretion of the Midwest Honor Flight Board.
